Pimlico
This basement courtyard is over-shadowed by tall buildings on all sides. A large raised planting bed was introduced for three multi-stem Amelanchier trees, whose canopies are at eye level from the first floor balcony and offer white blossom in the spring and warm foliage colour in the autumn. In winter their sinuous stems provide interesting graphic lines. With a built-in bench the courtyard is a perfect refuge during our increasingly hot city summers.
